As a museum curator at Hillstead Museum, I was surrounded by some of the finest works of American and European art. My work revolved around the care and management of the museum's collections, and my day-to-day tasks range from researching and cataloging new acquisitions to overseeing the installation of exhibitions.
One of my favorite parts of the job was being able to work with artists, collectors, and other museums to acquire new works of art for our collection. This involved researching artists and their works.
Another aspect of my work that I found incredibly fulfilling is designing exhibitions. I worked closely with designers, conservators, and other museum professionals to select works of art, write didactic materials, and plan installations. It was a privilege to be able to showcase the museum's collections and bring the works of art to life for visitors.
In addition to curatorial work, I also engaged with visitors and the public through tours, lectures, and educational programs. It was exciting to share my passion for art and history with others and see their reactions to the works of art on display.
Working at Hillstead Museum is both challenging and rewarding. I was part of a supportive team of colleagues who share my passion for art and history, and together, we worked towards preserving and promoting the museum's rich cultural heritage. It's a privilege to be a part of this important institution and to make a meaningful contribution to its mission.
